The Village Safari by Jeep (maximum 04 pax + Guide) consists of a
round trip of 70 kilometres in 04 hours.
It starts from the hotel after Breakfast and traverses the rural countryside, sometimes
cross-country, reaching the Bishnoi Village first.
The Bishnois are the original environmentalists and do not allow the cutting of trees (khejri) or the
killing of animals, specially antelopes.
Here the guests will also
experience The Opium ceremony, which is a prestigious event in the villages
whereby the hosts honours the guests by offering opium (also how to prepare
the concoction to drink).
Proceed further and visit the weavers where they make durries, blankets etc
woven from cotton, camel & goat hair and other rural raw materials. This is
a village industry and thriving and the guests are fascinated with the
weaver families' skills at weaving different kinds of colourful and
intricate designs.
Then carry on to The Potter village where the potter will demonstrate how he makes his pots, piggy banks, vases and other decorative goods. This is
his livelihood and he is in great demand to make earthen pots to store water
for drinking in the villages which is their "fridge". This is
another rural based industry giving work to artisans.
This is followed by a trip to see the wildlife, mostly antelopes which are
in great abundance now, because of the protection provided to them by the
Bishnois against poachers. The sight of running antelopes, especially deer
and blackbucks is very interesting and fascinating.
The last stop is the lake to see migratory birds from Siberia. These are
often spotted here too but the numbers will be fewer.
The drive back for lunch at the hotel is on the main roads. The above
sequence may not be followed but these are the things that'll be definitely
shown on the Village Safari.
